BRIT Awards Consultancy with the BPI

The BRIT Awards 2024 nominees were revealed yesterday, and it's an incredible list of incredibly talented folks. Extremely importantly, 57% of all nominees this year are women - with women filling 6 of the 10 spots in the 'Artist of the Year' category, and RAYE breaking all previous records to become the most nominated artist at the BRITs ever.

I've had the honour of consulting with the fantastic team at the BPI (British Phonographic Industry) as they've examined processes and the representation across the nomination categories of the BRITs. Their fantastic work, their openness and their readiness to respond to feedback from the industry has been vital in bringing about this momentous step forward, and creating this amount of space for women in such a visible, widely regarded setting. So a huge shout out to Hailey Willington, Dr Jo Twist OBE (she/her) and their excellent team for initiating change, and for showing the whole industry that targeted action works.

It's been a privilege to be involved in the process, and it was a lot of fun to be in the BRIT Awards Voting Academy for 2024 too. Bring on the 2nd March!
