Music Ally Sandbox Guide: Bandcamp
My latest feature for Music Ally is now live, looking into the opportunities available to artists and marketing teams in 2024 via Bandcamp. Big thanks to Aly Gillani at Bandcamp, Lara Peterson at Songtradr, Dan Cohen at Nonesuch Records, Scott McNiece at International Anthem and Rebecca Sicile-Kira of Sub Pop for taking the time to chat for this guide - read the whole thing here!
From Listening Parties to merch bundles, community building to coveted coloured vinyls, online record store and music community Bandcamp has placed itself at the heart of D2C marketing in recent years. This fan-favoured platform has also recently been acquired by music licensing firm Songtradr from previous owners Epic Games, and the new owners are keen to stress that exciting times are afoot for Bandcamp.
Bryan Biniak, President & CMO of Songtradr and GM Bandcamp, is proud of the numbers that show the platform’s connectivity: “Bandcamp’s 5 million artists and labels, and 47 million+ fans make up the largest social commerce community on the planet.” It’s now an ideal moment to take a look at the marketing and communityfacing opportunities available on the platform, and to speak with experts from Nonesuch, Sub Pop and International Anthem to find out how these prestigious labels use Bandcamp to its maximum potential.
